NETHER MOUNTAINS: DRAGON CAVE

2. Oxen Den
3. The Last Guard
4. Tymofarrar
Quick Access

1. Entrance

Two kobold ice hounds guard the first room. They probably match the description Master Jumper or Deekin has perhaps given you: they are tougher than usual kobolds. When you have done with them you can search the few containers in the room, and don't forget the handfull of bolts of Frostbite they all leave as remains.

Disable the trap behind the door which leads to the corridor if you can, before facing the four (?) kobold ice hounds standing in this corridor. You are now ready to explore the three 'sleeping rooms' where only one or two of them should be.
You'll find a few valuable items in each room container - and don't forget the kobolds remains...

2. Oxen Den

Here is probably the most difficult ennemy you can find here - apart from the dragon of course, but you can manage otherwise with him if need be. Klonk The Freezer is a kobold ice hound under a speed spell, and he uses a special short sword (+6 points ice damage) and/or bolts of Frostbite.
You can either try to defeat him or use the trick below against him too.

Many angry oxen are held in this enclosure, and you can even read a sign in front of it to put the idea into your tired brain if need be: "Master's Food; do not open; animals might stampede". If you just open the door, the animals will not really stampede as they won't hurt you, but they will rush to any kobold straight before them. You can let them do the job - though you won't get the XPs, but the remains will be yours.

3. The Last Guard

Expect at least five kobold ice hounds. If you cannot manage, or if you are tired of killing, let the oxen do the job for you

If oxen stand in your way after the killing, just 'talk' to them and they will get back to their den.

4. Tymofarrar

Tymofarrar is a young white dragon, and though he is of course very old he is not so wise as an eldest dragon could be. However he is cunning enough as to make you go to the point he wants you to.

If you meet him for the first time, you can have an easy dialog with him, no matter which line of dialog you take, he'll come to what he wants: revenge toward J'Nah, a sorceress who is probably at a higher power command. Though he is a sort of easy going character - a dragon of course! you can read between the lines of his dialog: she convinced him to steal the four artifacts as they were powerful items, pretending she would satisfy herself with the statue item. But she mounted an attack against his kobolds to collect the four of them. The dragon actually had no intention to respect the deal, but he will hardly explain why. It is up to you to try to understand.

If you agree to kill this J'Nah, you'd better ask for a reward (maybe the Mask which is in his possession and he doesn't care about anyway, or Deekin emancipation) and make him give an oath. If not, you'll have hard times to get your reward! For now he will give you a flask of powder to use on J'Nah so she be weakened, and the key to the rectangular stone in his cave which will get you back directly to the Nether Mountains in front of the boulder near the Kobold Caves entrance, from where you'll be able to get directly back to this cave.

If you prefer to kill him, you can use N'Jah's Phylactery of Ice which will turn your PC into a Frost Giant, else you are on your own. On his body, you'll find the Mask, the Flask of Powder to help you kill J'Nah, his head to show Deekin, Dragon Blood of course and his Stone Key.

Before leaving, you can have a look at the desk where you'll find several gems and the dragon notebook (in case you killed him instead of talking with him).

When you return after having killed J'Nah (750XP) (and if you have not killed Tymofarrar of course), the dragon will grant you what you asked (if he has sworn an oath), plus a second thing (do ask for Deekin emancipation if you don't want to kill the dragon). If you acquire the Mask, you'll get 750XP. To prove Deekin emancipation, Tymofarrar will give you a doll which belonged to the kobold.
